This takes me right back to 1979.  My first job, as a letterpress printer.  I can still feel the lead and wooden type, the smell of the ink, the quoin keys, the weight of the chase, the amount of time it took to make ready a forme for press. What took 30 mins to prepare back then, can be achieved in 30 seconds today.  Technology.  Relentless.  Letterpress type, it’s 0.918 of an inch high you know!  The things you recall.

I love all of these things so much. There’s nothing like the smell of ink and metal and the clunking rhythm of the press working.

Text

Maurice Sendak, children’s author and artist, passed away last night from complications from a stroke. He is most famous for his works that he wrote and illustrated himself, such as “Where the Wild Things Are”. He and his talents will be sorely missed in the literary world. (NYT Obituary)

Cook up your favorite (or least favorite, as it were) state with this creative culinary layout. Each state is actually an individual pan, but you buy them as one combined display for the “you should just work harder to be able to afford it” American price of $8,000 at felionstudios.
